This Lenten season we will focus on floriography: the secret language of flowers. The 40 days (plus Sundays) of Lent are a time of prayer and quiet reflection, a time of fallowness and rest and longing and a time for growing deep—just like the seeds, which when buried in the earth, die to themselves to grow into the beauty of new life in flowers. This year, we will explore and consider what the lilies, tulips, forget-me-nots and other flowers have to teach us about life and death and resurrection on Easter morning.
To help you on this journey, each congregational household will receive a Lent kit with materials that will help you “dig in” to Lent both spiritually and practically. Each kit will contain an introduction to the floriography theme and Lenten season, six packets of activity/discussion prompt cards for each week of Lent, and a flower pack for planting (seeded paper, small pot and instructions for planting and watching it grow).
