New Jerusalem Lutheran Church, in fellowship with the Washington Sängerbund and the Lovettsville Historical Society, cordially invites you to a Christmas Advent Concert at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 4th, in the sanctuary at New Jerusalem.
Refreshments will be served following the performance. Admission is open to the public and free of charge, although free-will offerings to support the Western Loudoun Food Pantry would be appreciated.
This Advent, the Washington Sängerbund will perform in a celebration of Lessons and Carols in English and German for the Christmas season. The event is also co-sponsored by the Lovettsville Historical Society as part of the community sense-of-place events “Where We Live: The German Settlement.”
The Washington Sängerbund, founded in 1851, is the oldest German singing society in the Washington area. The Sängerbund continues its long tradition of preserving German music and German culture in the Washington metropolitan area with numerous concerts and musical performances during the year, often in conjunction with other groups. Its repertoire consists of music in the German language. The Sängerbund also sponsors other social activities such as an annual "German Fasching - Costume Ball,” and notably brings the authentic German flavor food to Lovettsville’s Oktoberfest since 2003.
