"God's Work. Our Hands." Sunday

We join an estimated 10,000 ELCA congregations for this annual day of service! This is a day to connect with our community and support some worthy charities and organizations in need. "God's Work. Our Hands." begins with worship at 10:00 a.m., followed by a delicious potluck luncheon. After lunch we will begin our service projects.

Our list of this projects for 2017's event include:

  • NEW Children's artwork station creating art for distribution to eldercare and creating thank-you cards forn rescue workers

  • NEW Outreach project: painting exterior of the AME chapel

  • Quilting for Lutheran World Relief (LWR)

  • Assembling health kits and costume jewelry donation for LWR

  • NEW Assisting with pocket prayer shawls for local distribution

  • Sorting and stocking for the Western Loudoun Food Pantry

  • Weeding/mulching New Jerusalem garden

  • Assisting with lunch set-up and breakdown

We will be venturing out into the Lovettsville community again this year, as we will be repainting the AME Chapel (located on 287/Berlin Turnpike across from Bonnie's). NJLC is thrilled to be participating in this project in Lovettsville!

We also are excited to be working with our youth on artwork and thank-you projects this year, and allowing them to help give back to their community!

Sign up sheets for the potluck will be in the fellowship hall, and donation bags for the food pantry will be distributed during services on 8/20, 8/27 and 9/3. Check back for more details on this year’s event!
