SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT:
SCOUTING FOR FOOD, November 11
Scouting for Food is the largest donation our food pantry receives all year. We are extremely grateful for the support of the Scouts and the community. As you prepare, please keep the following guidelines in mind.
Overall, the pantry's supplies are at a low ebb. We are even short on staples such as mac and cheese. The only items we have in abundance are canned green and black beans (please do not donate those).
Please do not concentrate on Thanksgiving items such as cranberry sauce and canned pumpkin. We still have the remnants of last year's cranberry contributions. Our needs for these food items are limited.
Otherwise, everything on our standard list is needed. If you get pasta, we urge you to get white pasta. Our fastest moving staples are cooking oil, sugar, dried black and kidney beans, canned corn, Vienna sausages, toilet paper, and paper towels. But we also have regular need for virtually everything else listed below, from coffee and tea, to condiments and crackers. Money and gift cards are always useful and welcome.
And finally, we ask you to please check the dates of the non-perishable foods you provide. Our policy is to provide only non-expired food to our clientele.
Once again, thank you very much for your support. We are serving more clients than ever, thanks to your help.
Not needed at this time*
canned green beans, canned black beans, and canned kidney beans.
Donating to the Pantry
There are many ways to support of the pantry’s work:
Specific pantry goods (see list) can be dropped off at New Jerusalem Lutheran Church.
PLEASE do not donate canned green beans at this time. Thank you.
As always, cash donations, gift cards, and staples like cooking oil, sugar, and coffee are most welcome.
Monetary donations
Donations can be made via cash or check through the New Jerusalem Church Office (M-F, 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.) or by sent by mail to: New Jerusalem Lutheran Church, 12942 Lutheran Church Rd., Lovettsville, VA 20180.
Checks should be made payable to “New Jerusalem Lutheran Church” with “Western Loudoun Food Pantry” specified on the memo line.
Online donations also can be made via our secure giving portal (CLICK HERE). There is a space next to the "Other Donations" field where you can designate "Western Loudoun Food Pantry.”
Purchase grocery store cards or gas cards and bring them to the church office or send in via mail.
Getting Help from the Pantry
There are a variety of ways to access help from the pantry:
If you have children (or grandchildren) living with you who are enrolled in the Lovettsville School District, contact the Parent Liaison at your school who will work with you confidentially.
If you have a case worker through Loudoun County Mental Health or the Arc of Loudoun, contact your case worker who will work with us to arrange an appointment.
If you participate in a local faith community, contact your pastor who will work with you confidentially.
If you do not fall into any of these categories, contact New Jerusalem Lutheran Church directly. We can be reached at 540-822-5576 or by email at officenjlc@gmail.com. When you leave a message it may be a few days before a volunteer can respond, but there will be a response as soon as we are able.
NOTE: All visits outside of the open hours are by appointment only.
What to Bring to Your Visit
We require no proof of residency or eligibility. We seek to work with our community based on the honor system. If you truly have a need, we want to help as we are able.
